Spain Relocation Guide

Everything on our Spain page, taken further and turned into a working file: an 82-page guide with the consulates’ document checklists, the non-lucrative and digital nomad tests worked out for your household, transfer tax at five prices in seven regions and VAT and stamp duty on new homes in six, the Beckham regime in detail and a month-by-month plan; an Excel workbook that does the arithmetic; and a Word checklist you check off as you go. Every rule and official figure is taken from, or calculated from, an official source, 104 of them, checked on September 25, 2026; the worked households use assumed incomes, labeled as such.

What You Get Beyond the Free Page

Our Spain page is free and stays free. The guide adds the parts you need when you actually start the paperwork.

Chapter or toolWhy it matters
Three worked householdsA retired couple and a single early retiree on the non-lucrative visa, and a remote-working family on the digital nomad visa, each taken through the money test, first-year fees and a monthly budget from official figures (composite examples: their incomes and savings are assumptions, not real clients).
First-year cost planThe official one-off fees and legal limits, and the monthly running costs, with a column for your own figures; it matches the workbook.
Document tracker and month-by-month planEach document by route with where to get it, its age limit and any apostille or translation rule, plus a plan from 12 months before the move to 3 months after, as checklists in Word.
Consulate checklists by routeThe Los Angeles non-lucrative list and the Washington telework list, with the points where New York differs, as lists you can check off, dated to the versions we read.
Your household’s numbersThe non-lucrative and digital nomad tests for 1 to 4 adults and 0 to 3 children, in euros and dollars, with both readings of the nomad test, plus the family reunification, student and Blue Card figures.
Purchase taxes, workedTransfer tax on a resale home at five prices in the seven regions of the guide’s cities, and VAT plus stamp duty on a new home in six of them (the Canary Islands are left out).
The Beckham regimeWho it covers, how long it lasts, the 24% rate worked at five income levels, your family, form 149 and its six-month deadline, and why retirees are outside it.
Costs for 12 citiesOfficial rents paid, transit and energy references, and a budget that converts to dollars.
Numbers, deadlines and glossaryEmergency numbers in the official wording, the Spanish consulates in the U.S., U.S. Embassy contacts, the deadlines that repeat each year, and the Spanish terms you will meet.

Made For

  • Americans who have chosen Spain, or narrowed it to Spain and one other country.
  • Retirees and people living on pensions, savings or investments, looking at the non-lucrative visa.
  • Remote workers and their families weighing the digital nomad visa.
  • Anyone who wants to arrive at a lawyer’s or tax adviser’s office already knowing the rules.

What It Is Not

  • Legal, tax or immigration advice. It explains the rules in general; your case needs your advisers.
  • A substitute for your own consulate’s checklist on the day you apply: consulates differ and update their lists, and we tell you where to find yours.
  • A guide to other countries. Our Europe-wide planners work alongside it.

Questions About the Guide

How is the guide different from your free Spain page?

The page explains the rules; the guide is built for doing the work. It adds three worked household examples, a first-year cost plan, a document tracker and a month-by-month plan, the consulates’ document checklists for the non-lucrative and digital nomad visas, your household’s numbers for both tests, transfer tax worked out at five prices in seven regions and VAT and stamp duty on new homes in six, the Beckham regime in detail, deadlines, a glossary and key numbers, plus the Excel workbook and the Word checklists.

How current is it?

Every rule and figure was checked against official sources on September 25, 2026, and each is numbered to its source. Where we could not reach a source, such as the website of the unit that processes permits in Spain, the guide says so. Each edition is dated; a later edition is a new purchase. If you find an error in your file, we send a corrected copy free.

Which digital nomad figure does it use?

Both. The Washington consulate publishes €2,442 a month for the worker in 2026; the minimum wage is paid in 14 installments, and spread over 12 months the same rule gives €2,849. We could not read the figure used in Spain, so the guide shows both for every household size and tells you what to ask.

Is it legal or tax advice?

No. Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains how the rules work in general and lists the questions to take to a licensed lawyer and a cross-border tax adviser.

What if a file will not open?

If a file will not open, email us with your order number and we will put it right by sending you a working copy free of charge.

Will my card statement say Quantum Jetset?

It will show MEGACOMMERCIALENT, the payment name of Mega Commercial Enterprises Limited, the Irish company behind Quantum Jetset.

Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains the rules in general, with official sources checked on September 25, 2026; check the source before you act and speak to a licensed professional where it matters.
