Slovenia Relocation Guide

Everything on our Slovenia page, taken further and turned into a working file: an 83-page guide with document lists by route from the official application form, InfoTujci and the Embassy’s long-stay visa checklist, the means tests for your household, the digital nomad readings and the Blue Card floor, the transfer tax and VAT worked out at five prices, and a month-by-month plan; an Excel workbook that does the arithmetic; and a Word checklist you check off as you go. Every rule and official figure is taken from, or calculated from, an official source, 102 of them, checked on September 25 to 27, 2026; the worked households use assumed incomes, labeled as such.

What You Get Beyond the Free Page

Our Slovenia page is free and stays free. The guide adds the parts you need when you actually start the paperwork.

Chapter or toolWhy it matters
Three worked householdsA retired couple on Social Security and a company pension, a remote-working couple with two children, and a single early retiree on investment income, each taken through the route the rules point to, the tests line by line with each earner tested on his or her own income, the first-year fees and the monthly lines with an official figure (composite examples: their incomes and savings are assumptions, not real clients).
First-year cost planThe Embassy’s fees and the official references, and the monthly running costs, with a column for your own figures; it matches the workbook, and it says plainly where Slovenia publishes no figure, such as a market rent by town.
Document tracker and month-by-month planEach document by route with where to get it, its validity and any apostille or translation rule an official source states, plus a plan from 12 months before the move to 3 months after, as checklists in Word.
Document lists by routeThe official application form for other justified reasons, InfoTujci’s lists for the digital nomad permit, family reunification and the Blue Card, and the Embassy’s long-stay visa checklist, each dated to the version we read.
Your household’s numbersThe family reunification test for 1 to 4 adults and 0 to 3 children, with the single-parent supplement, the four readings of the digital nomad test, the Blue Card floor and the Embassy’s fees, in euros and dollars.
Purchase costs, workedThe 2% transfer tax the seller owes and the 9.5% or 22% VAT on a new home, at five prices, and what each price buys at the 2025 medians.
Numbers, deadlines and glossaryEmergency numbers in the official wording, the Embassy’s, the Consulate General’s and the U.S. Embassy’s contacts, the deadlines that repeat, including the yearly income tax calculation, and the local terms you will meet.

Made For

  • Americans who have chosen Slovenia, or narrowed it to Slovenia and one other country.
  • Remote workers for U.S. employers or clients, and their partners and children.
  • Employees with a Slovenian job offer, and people with family in Slovenia.
  • Anyone who wants to arrive at a lawyer’s or tax adviser’s office already knowing the rules.

What It Is Not

  • Legal, tax or immigration advice. It explains the rules in general; your case needs your advisers.
  • A retirement visa: Slovenia has none, and the guide says so, with the discretionary permit retirees look to instead.
  • Residence by investment: the Foreigners Act has no investor route.

Questions About the Guide

How is the guide different from your free Slovenia page?

The page explains the rules; the guide is built for doing the work. It adds three worked household examples, a first-year cost plan, a document tracker and a month-by-month plan, document lists by route, your household’s means tests and fees, the transfer tax and VAT worked out at five prices, deadlines, a glossary and key numbers, plus the Excel workbook and the Word checklists.

How current is it?

Every rule and official figure on our Slovenia page was checked against official sources on September 25 and 26, 2026, and the sources added for the guide’s own chapters were read on September 27; each is numbered to its source. Where we found no official figure, such as a market rent by town, the guide says so. Each edition is dated; a later edition is a new purchase. If you find an error in your file, we send a corrected copy free.

Does Slovenia have a retirement visa?

No. The Embassy in Washington says retirement as such is not a recognized purpose for a residence permit. The guide sets out the discretionary permit for other justified reasons that retirees look to, what its application form asks for, and the questions to take to a lawyer.

Does the guide cover the digital nomad permit?

Yes: InfoTujci’s list of documents, filing in Slovenia on a visa-free stay, the four readings of the salary test, family members, and the tax questions, with a worked example of a family in which only one partner is the nomad.

Is it legal or tax advice?

No. Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains how the rules work in general and lists the questions to take to a licensed lawyer and a cross-border tax adviser.

What if a file will not open?

If a file will not open, email us with your order number and we will put it right by sending you a working copy free of charge.

Will my card statement say Quantum Jetset?

It will show MEGACOMMERCIALENT, the payment name of Mega Commercial Enterprises Limited, the Irish company behind Quantum Jetset.

Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains the rules in general, with official sources checked on September 25 to 27, 2026; check the source before you act and speak to a licensed professional where it matters.
