Questions About the Scouting Trip Planner
How long should a scouting trip be?
Long enough to see each shortlisted area at least three times: a weekday morning, a weekday evening and a weekend. For two or three areas in one city, many people find seven to ten days enough; the planner has templates for both.
How does the scorecard work?
You give each criterion a weight from 1 to 5 and score each area from 1 to 5. The workbook multiplies score by weight and divides by the best possible total for the criteria you have scored, so an area is not penalized for something you have not checked yet. 100 means every scored criterion got a 5.
Does it work for any city?
Yes. It holds no local prices or rules; it organizes what you see and ask, so it suits any city in Europe or elsewhere.
Do I need Microsoft Excel?
It is built in the standard Excel format for Excel 2016 or later on Windows or Mac. It also opens in Google Sheets, Apple Numbers and LibreOffice, where some formatting may look slightly different.
