Netherlands Relocation Guide
Everything on our Netherlands page, taken further and turned into a working file: an 89-page guide with the IND’s own document lists by route, the highly skilled migrant, Blue Card, treaty capital and family figures worked out for your household, transfer tax at five prices, the 30% ruling and Box 3 in detail and a month-by-month plan; an Excel workbook that does the arithmetic; and a Word checklist you check off as you go. Every rule and official figure is taken from, or calculated from, an official source, 156 of them, checked on September 25 and 26, 2026; the worked households use assumed incomes, labeled as such.

What You Get Beyond the Free Page
Our Netherlands page is free and stays free. The guide adds the parts you need when you actually start the paperwork.
| Chapter or tool | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Three worked households | A couple near retirement with one spouse consulting under the treaty, an employee family on the highly skilled migrant permit, and a single early retiree starting a trading company, each taken through the test, first-year fees and the monthly lines with an official figure (composite examples: their incomes and savings are assumptions, not real clients). |
| First-year cost plan | The IND’s fees and the legal limits, and the monthly running costs with their official references, with a column for your own figures; it matches the workbook. |
| Document tracker and month-by-month plan | Each document by route with where to get it, its validity and any apostille or translation rule an official source states, plus a plan from 12 months before the move to 3 months after, for the employee routes and the treaty route, as checklists in Word. |
| The IND’s document lists | Americans need no MVV and apply in the Netherlands, or their employer applies, so no consular checklist applies: the guide reproduces the lists in the IND’s own application forms for the treaty, the highly skilled migrant permit, the Blue Card and family members, each dated to the version we read. |
| Your household’s numbers | The 2026 salary figures in euros and dollars, the treaty’s minimum capital by business form, and the IND’s family income figure and fees for 1 to 2 adults and 0 to 3 children. |
| Transfer tax, worked | The 2%, 8% and starter-exemption rates at five prices, for one buyer or two, with the proposed 2027 rate labeled as a proposal. |
| The 30% ruling and Box 3 | The conditions, deadlines and caps of the 30% ruling, and Box 3 on your investments, with worked tables. |
| Numbers, deadlines and glossary | Emergency numbers in the official wording, U.S. and Dutch post contacts, the deadlines that repeat, and the Dutch terms you will meet. |

Made For
- Americans who have chosen the Netherlands, or narrowed it to the Netherlands and one other country.
- People with a Dutch job offer, and their partners and children.
- U.S. citizens planning a business under the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty.
- Anyone who wants to arrive at a lawyer’s or tax adviser’s office already knowing the rules.
What It Is Not
- Legal, tax or immigration advice. It explains the rules in general; your case needs your advisers.
- A route for retirement or remote work alone: Dutch law lists none, and the guide says so.
- A guide to other countries. Our Europe-wide planners work alongside it.

Questions About the Guide
How is the guide different from your free Netherlands page?
The page explains the rules; the guide is built for doing the work. It adds three worked household examples, a first-year cost plan, a document tracker and a month-by-month plan, the IND’s document lists by route, your household’s salary, capital and family figures, transfer tax worked out at five prices, the 30% ruling and Box 3 in detail, deadlines, a glossary and key numbers, plus the Excel workbook and the Word checklists.
How current is it?
Every rule and official figure was checked against official sources on September 25 and 26, 2026 (the IND’s application forms, the healthcare allowance limits and the 30% ruling’s thresholds from 2027 on September 26); each is numbered to its source. Where we found no official figure, the guide says so. Each edition is dated; a later edition is a new purchase. If you find an error in your file, we send a corrected copy free.
Why no consulate checklist?
U.S. citizens do not need an MVV entry visa, so you apply for the residence permit in the Netherlands, or your employer applies. (The treaty form sends applicants who are still abroad to the Dutch embassy or consulate; the guide says what to ask them.) The document lists therefore come from the IND’s own application forms, which the guide reproduces by route, dated to the version we read.
Is there a retirement or digital nomad route?
No. The residence purposes in Dutch law include no retirement, passive-income or digital nomad permit. The guide covers the routes that exist, chiefly the Dutch-American Friendship Treaty and the employee routes, and says plainly where a situation has no route.
Is it legal or tax advice?
No. Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains how the rules work in general and lists the questions to take to a licensed lawyer and a cross-border tax adviser.
What if a file will not open?
If a file will not open, email us with your order number and we will put it right by sending you a working copy free of charge.
Will my card statement say Quantum Jetset?
It will show MEGACOMMERCIALENT, the payment name of Mega Commercial Enterprises Limited, the Irish company behind Quantum Jetset.
Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains the rules in general, with official sources checked on September 25 and 26, 2026; check the source before you act and speak to a licensed professional where it matters.
