Luxembourg Relocation Guide
Everything on our Luxembourg page, taken further and turned into a working file: an 86-page guide with document lists by route from the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs’ own Visa D checklists, every money test and the Visa D and permit fees for your household, the purchase duties and the Bëllegen Akt credit worked out at five prices, the inbound-employee tax regime worked out at three salaries, and a month-by-month plan; an Excel workbook that does the arithmetic; and a Word checklist you check off as you go. Every rule and official figure is taken from, or calculated from, an official source, 142 of them, checked on September 25, October 4 and October 7, 2026; the worked households use assumed incomes, labeled as such.

What You Get Beyond the Free Page
Our Luxembourg page is free and stays free. The guide adds the parts you need when you actually start the paperwork.
| Chapter or tool | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Three worked households | A retired couple in Mersch, one of them with a German statutory pension; a remote-working couple with two children and one EU Blue Card job, settling in Dudelange; and a single early retiree on investment income, for whom, by our reading, Luxembourg has no route; each taken through the route the rules point to, or that none does, the tests line by line, the first-year fees and the monthly lines with an official figure (composite examples: their incomes and savings are assumptions, not real clients). |
| First-year cost plan | The consular and permit fees, the legal limits and the official references, and the monthly running costs, with a column for your own figures; it matches the workbook, and it says plainly where no official figure exists, such as a translator’s fee. |
| Document tracker and month-by-month plan | Each document by route with where to get it, the validity and age limits and any apostille or translation rule an official source states, plus a plan from 12 months before the move to 3 months after, as checklists in Word. |
| Document lists by route | The ministry’s own Visa D checklists for the salaried worker, Blue Card, self-employed, student, family and private-reasons applications, dated to the version we read, with the residence-permit steps after arrival. |
| Your household’s numbers | Every money test in euros and dollars, the decision times, and the Visa D and permit fees for 1 to 4 adults and 0 to 3 children. |
| Purchase costs and the inbound-employee regime, worked | The 7% duties and the Bëllegen Akt credit at five prices and what each price buys at the 2025–2026 averages; and the tax with and without the 50% exemption at three salaries. |
| Numbers, deadlines and glossary | Emergency numbers in the official wording, the embassy and consulates, the offices you will deal with, the deadlines that repeat, the figures that change and where to check them, and the local terms you will meet. |

Made For
- Americans who have chosen Luxembourg, or narrowed it to Luxembourg and one other country.
- Employees with a Luxembourg job offer, EU Blue Card hires, founders and students admitted to a Luxembourg institution.
- Families joining someone who lives in Luxembourg.
- Anyone who wants to arrive at a lawyer’s or tax adviser’s office already knowing the rules.
What It Is Not
- Legal, tax or immigration advice. It explains the rules in general; your case needs your advisers.
- A retirement or digital nomad visa on U.S. income: by our reading of the law, Luxembourg has neither, and the guide says so, with the routes that do exist.
- Residence through buying property: by our reading of the law, no route is built on owning a home.

Questions About the Guide
How is the guide different from your free Luxembourg page?
The page explains the rules; the guide is built for doing the work. It adds three worked household examples, a first-year cost plan, a document tracker and a month-by-month plan, document lists by route from the ministry’s Visa D checklists, every money test and the fees for your household, the purchase duties worked out at five prices, the inbound-employee regime worked out at three salaries, deadlines, the figures that change and where to check them, a glossary and key numbers, plus the Excel workbook and the Word checklists.
How current is it?
The Luxembourg sources were read on October 7, 2026, and some U.S. federal and EU sources on September 25 or October 4; each figure is numbered to its source, which is marked with the day it was read. Pending bills are given with their status as of October 7, 2026, and a table says when each changing figure, such as the minimum wage or the Blue Card salary, usually changes and where to check the current one. Where we found no official figure, such as a translator’s fee, the guide says so. Each edition is dated; a later edition is a new purchase. If you find an error in your file, we send a corrected copy free.
Does Luxembourg have a retirement visa?
Not for Americans living on U.S. income, by our reading of the law: since 2023 the own-resources permit counts only income from work in another EU or Schengen state or an EU, Schengen or Luxembourg social-security pension. The guide sets out the routes that do exist, with a worked example of a couple where one spouse has a German pension and of a single early retiree for whom no route is built.
Can I move to Luxembourg to work remotely for my U.S. employer?
Not on a permit of its own, by our reading: there is no digital nomad or remote-work category among the Visa D types. The guide shows how a family can move on one partner’s EU Blue Card job, with the other on a family permit, and which questions that leaves for the advisers.
Is it legal or tax advice?
No. Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains how the rules work in general and lists the questions to take to a licensed lawyer and a cross-border tax adviser.
What if a file will not open?
If a file will not open, email us with your order number and we will put it right by sending you a working copy free of charge.
Will my card statement say Quantum Jetset?
It will show MEGACOMMERCIALENT, the payment name of Mega Commercial Enterprises Limited, the Irish company behind Quantum Jetset.
Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains the rules in general, with official sources checked on September 25, October 4 and October 7, 2026; check the source before you act and speak to a licensed professional where it matters.
