Finland Relocation Guide
Everything on our Finland page, taken further and turned into a working file: a 90-page guide with document lists by route from Migri’s own attachment lists, the household income test, funds tests and fees for your family, the transfer tax worked out at five prices, the key-employee regime worked out at three salaries, and a month-by-month plan; an Excel workbook that does the arithmetic; and a Word checklist you check off as you go. Every rule and official figure is taken from, or calculated from, an official source, 163 of them, checked on September 25 and 27 and October 4, 2026; the worked households use assumed incomes, labeled as such.

What You Get Beyond the Free Page
Our Finland page is free and stays free. The guide adds the parts you need when you actually start the paperwork.
| Chapter or tool | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Three worked households | A retired couple on Social Security and a company pension in Turku, one of them with a Finnish-born mother; a remote-working couple with two children and one Finnish job offer in Tampere; and a single early retiree on investment income in Helsinki, for whom Finland has no route built; each taken through the route the rules point to, or that none does, the tests line by line, the first-year fees and the monthly lines with an official figure (composite examples: their incomes and savings are assumptions, not real clients). |
| First-year cost plan | Migri’s fees, the legal limits and the official references, and the monthly running costs, with a column for your own figures; it matches the workbook, and it says plainly where no official figure exists, such as a health insurance premium. |
| Document tracker and month-by-month plan | Each document by route with where to get it, the validity and age limits and any apostille or translation rule an official source states, plus a plan from 12 months before the move to 3 months after, as checklists in Word. |
| Document lists by route | Migri’s own attachment lists for the specialist, Blue Card, employed-person, start-up, descendant, spouse, child, student and other-grounds applications, each dated to the day we read it. |
| Your household’s numbers | Migri’s household income test for 1 or 2 adults and 0 to 3 children in all three areas, the funds tests for the permit on other grounds, start-up founders and students, the salary floors and the fees, in euros and dollars. |
| Purchase costs and the key-employee regime, worked | The 1.5% or 3% transfer tax at five prices and what each price buys at the 2026 averages; and 25% at source against the progressive taxes at three salaries. |
| Numbers, deadlines and glossary | Emergency numbers in the official wording, the offices you will deal with, the deadlines that repeat, and the local terms you will meet. |

Made For
- Americans who have chosen Finland, or narrowed it to Finland and one other country.
- Employees with a Finnish job offer, founders with a start-up plan, and students admitted to a Finnish institution.
- Families joining someone in Finland, and Americans with a Finnish parent or grandparent.
- Anyone who wants to arrive at a lawyer’s or tax adviser’s office already knowing the rules.
What It Is Not
- Legal, tax or immigration advice. It explains the rules in general; your case needs your advisers.
- A retirement or digital nomad visa: Finland has neither, and the guide says so, with the routes that do exist.
- Residence through buying property: owning property in Finland gives no right to a residence permit.

Questions About the Guide
How is the guide different from your free Finland page?
The page explains the rules; the guide is built for doing the work. It adds three worked household examples, a first-year cost plan, a document tracker and a month-by-month plan, document lists by route, your household’s income and funds tests and fees, the transfer tax worked out at five prices, the key-employee regime worked out at three salaries, deadlines, a glossary and key numbers, plus the Excel workbook and the Word checklists.
How current is it?
The Finnish sources of our Finland page were read on October 4, 2026, some U.S. federal and EU sources on September 25 or 27, and the sources added for the guide’s own chapters, including Migri’s attachment lists, on October 4; each figure is numbered to its source, which is marked with the day it was read. Changes due in 2027, such as the new tax scale and health care fees, are dated as pending as of October 4, 2026. Where we found no official figure, such as a health insurance premium, the guide says so. Each edition is dated; a later edition is a new purchase. If you find an error in your file, we send a corrected copy free.
Does Finland have a retirement visa?
No. Migri names no retirement or own-means permit. The guide sets out the routes that do exist, including Finnish descent and family ties, the discretionary permit on other grounds and its funds test, and the questions to take to a lawyer, with a worked example of a retired couple and of a single early retiree.
Can I move to Finland to work remotely for my U.S. employer?
Not on a permit of its own: remote work for a foreign company is not a ground for a work permit. The guide shows how a family can move on one partner’s Finnish job while the other keeps a remote job on a family permit, with a worked example.
Is it legal or tax advice?
No. Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains how the rules work in general and lists the questions to take to a licensed lawyer and a cross-border tax adviser.

Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains the rules in general, with official sources checked on September 25 and 27 and October 4, 2026; check the source before you act and speak to a licensed professional where it matters.
