Belgium Relocation Guide

Everything on our Belgium page, taken further and turned into a working file: an 87-page guide with document lists by route from the Belgian posts’ own checklists and the regions’ professional-card lists, the salary floors of Flanders, Brussels and Wallonia and the consular fees for your household, registration duty worked out at five prices in each region, the inbound-taxpayer regime and the new capital-gains tax worked out, and a month-by-month plan; an Excel workbook that does the arithmetic; and a Word checklist you check off as you go. Every rule and official figure is taken from, or calculated from, an official source, 125 of them, checked on September 25 and 27, 2026; the worked households use assumed incomes, labeled as such.

What You Get Beyond the Free Page

Our Belgium page is free and stays free. The guide adds the parts you need when you actually start the paperwork.

Chapter or toolWhy it matters
Three worked householdsA retired couple on Social Security and a company pension in the Brussels-Capital Region, an employee family on the EU Blue Card in Flanders, and a single early retiree on investment income in Wallonia, each taken through the route the rules point to, the tests line by line, the first-year fees and the monthly lines with an official figure (composite examples: their incomes and savings are assumptions, not real clients).
First-year cost planThe consular and regional fees and the official references, and the monthly running costs, with a column for your own figures; it matches the workbook, and it says plainly where Belgium publishes no figure, such as rents outside Brussels and the Immigration Office’s fee amounts.
Document tracker and month-by-month planEach document by route with where to get it, its age limit and any apostille, notarization or translation rule an official source states, plus a plan from 12 months before the move to 3 months after, as checklists in Word.
Document lists by routeThe Belgian posts’ own checklists for retirement, single permit holders, professional card applicants and family members of a worker, and the professional-card lists of Flanders and Brussels, each dated to the version we read, with which post covers your state.
Your household’s numbersThe salary floors of the three regions, the Flemish professional-card test, and the consular fees for 1 to 4 adults and 0 to 3 children, in euros and dollars, and who is tested on each route.
Purchase duty and tax rules, workedRegistration duty at five prices in each region, and the inbound-taxpayer regime, the 10% capital-gains tax with its step-up, the securities-account tax and social contributions at several amounts.
Numbers, deadlines and glossaryEmergency numbers in the official wording, the four Belgian posts’ and the U.S. Embassy’s contacts, the deadlines that repeat, and the local terms you will meet.

Made For

  • Americans who have chosen Belgium, or narrowed it to Belgium and one other country.
  • Retirees and others living on their own means, with ties to Belgium.
  • Employees with a Belgian job offer, their families, and the self-employed.
  • Anyone who wants to arrive at a lawyer’s, notary’s or tax adviser’s office already knowing the rules.

What It Is Not

  • Legal, tax or immigration advice. It explains the rules in general; your case needs your advisers.

Questions About the Guide

How is the guide different from your free Belgium page?

The page explains the rules; the guide is built for doing the work. It adds three worked household examples, a first-year cost plan, a document tracker and a month-by-month plan, document lists by route, your household’s numbers and fees, registration duty worked out at five prices in each region, the inbound regime and the capital-gains tax worked out, deadlines, a glossary and key numbers, plus the Excel workbook and the Word checklists.

How current is it?

Every rule and official figure on our Belgium page was checked against official sources on September 25, 2026, and the sources added for the guide’s own chapters were read on September 27; each is numbered to its source. Where we found no official figure, such as a rent outside Brussels, the guide says so. Each edition is dated; a later edition is a new purchase. If you find an error in your file, we send a corrected copy free.

Does Belgium have a retirement visa, and how much income does it need?

Yes: the Belgian posts accept a D visa for retirement, which needs the Immigration Office’s approval. Its checklist names no income amount; it asks for proof of funds or income, a cover letter on your ties to Belgium and reference letters. The guide sets out the checklist item by item, and the questions to ask the consulate.

Does it cover the three regions?

Yes. Work permits, the professional card, leases, purchase duty and some taxes differ between Flanders, the Brussels-Capital Region and Wallonia, and the guide names the region of every regional figure.

Is it legal or tax advice?

No. Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains how the rules work in general and lists the questions to take to a licensed lawyer, a notary and a cross-border tax adviser.

What if a file will not open?

If a file will not open, email us with your order number and we will put it right by sending you a working copy free of charge.

Will my card statement say Quantum Jetset?

It will show MEGACOMMERCIALENT, the payment name of Mega Commercial Enterprises Limited, the Irish company behind Quantum Jetset.

Quantum Jetset does not give legal, tax, immigration, financial or investment advice. The guide explains the rules in general, with official sources checked on September 25 and 27, 2026; check the source before you act and speak to a licensed professional where it matters.
